Re: OB, def and damage
Not completely sure if STR affects damage directly (other than through the tiny ob bonus you described), but if it does, it will probably be as negligible as the ob bonus. I don't recall when, but I'm fairly certain I've read that max damage is determined by strength and weapon damage (might have b...

Re: OB, def and damage
Strength is one factor in the damage calculation formula, so it has a very direct effect on damage dealt, apart from the indirect effects; it is not, however, as important as the weapon's damage factor.

Re: [Help] How to save and load script in powwow ubuntu
Do you mean what paths are legal? Anywhere you have read access, enter the path relative to the directory from which you start powwow. Here's an example: #alias hidden@*={#if (*$(0)) #exe ("#! grep \\\""+$roomname+"\\\" ../mume/hidden_doors &");#else #! gr ep "$0" ../mume/hidden_doors &} Edit: An ab...

Re: [Help] How to save and load script in powwow ubuntu
PowTTY is not really compatible with powwow, but generally speaking use #exe <filename.

Re: focus items
One thing to keep in mind for anyone considering focusing a copper ring: they can (or could a few years ago) not have all of +attack, -save and a db- or ob bonus, so dipping one in the moon- or sun pools will (would?) remove the +attack effect. As far as I know any magic ring, including arda rings, ...

Have the logging start action in a group, let it disable its own group when triggered and have another action which enables said group upon login.

Re: What targets should I be going for?
I remember when I was a newbie; in fact, while cleaning out some drawers today, I found some old printed out maps of places like Bree, Fornost and BM (the town maps, as they looked in newbie kits back in -96). Amongst the most exciting sessions of all times are the first time I walked alone from GH ...

Re: What targets should I be going for?
I disagree, Timodeus. The consider command is close to worthless at lower levels than 15 too. I have been beaten by mobiles considered easy when having decent equipment and killed mobiles considered hard while almost only wearing a newbie kit. I also disagree regarding the areas, I think he should e...

Re: Spear user stats
Whitie warriors should always have max str imo, since, apart from pracs, it directly affects ob, damage, db, mobility and bashing ability. Darkies may have to go with less than max due to lack of creation points.

Re: Spear user stats
I'd go with Str:18 Int:14 Wis:10 Dex:13 Con:17 Wil:13 Per:14.
105% track and functional bob. Its disadvantage will be low db, but one can't rely on defence as a spear wielder anyway...

Hearing and smell appear to be affected by room terrain, at least.

Powwow 1.2.13b
Who released powwow 1.2.13b (available at http://mume.org/Download/clients/powwow/ ), what changes does it contain, who is now the official maintainer and how does one get in touch with him? The changelog is empty and the news are for 1.2.9. http://hoopajoo.net/projects/powwow.html , which still see...

Depending on your stats, you may want to practice and xp like a warrior or scout until level 21, then take two days off to reprac after making your staff.

Re: Metals + Armour spell
When I tested it, wearing no armour meant I took maxdam while sanced and wearing armour meant I took less than maxdam, the damage reduction being consistent with what the armour ought to absorb of the damage left after sanctuary being applied. Perhaps armour spell absorption is applied before sanctu...

Re: Metals + Armour spell
The calculation of the effect of any kind of applicable abs is done in steps. First the armour spell will have effect and absorb what it is supposed to do, then physical armour will do its job on the remaining damage and lastly sanctuary will come into effect on whatever damage is left after the pr...

Well... something along the lines of "During the past fortnight 37 new room descriptions were written and 1 new zone was passed along for proofing. 4 bugs, 1 of which considered major, were fixed and a new feature was approved of by the upper management, although it remains unclear who will implemen...

because the bonuses vastly outweigh the maluses. (mali? lol) Maluses is the correct plural for the English noun, while mali is the correct Latin form for both the noun and the adjective in many cases, both singular and plural. Also note that as a Latin noun, malus only relates to apple trees, it is...

Re: Any future ahead? I guess not.
Last spring and summer, when this forum was new, there were rumours of several non-Aratar being given c-code access, something completely unheard of before, which was a step in the right direction. Unfortunately, it seems it stopped at that. The developers of my favourite games, the only pay-games I...
