JMC and targeting
I just returned to MUME, and am re-doing my client settings. I used to have a setup there i could type say, "te" and it would set my client to target *elf*. Then my hotkeys would correspond, and F1 would bolt the elf, F2 harm, etc. I realize this is a fairly simple setup, so am hoping some kind JMC'...

JMC logging
Anyone know a good way to log in JMC? I find I can't copy my scrollback, so I was looking for some sort of automated command that starts a log when I begin a session. I had one setup that would create a log based on the time reported in game, but if I use the time command multiple times in the same ...

Re: What targets should I be going for?
Agreed with Androg. You guys seriously forget what it is like to be first time MUMer, let alone a first time MUDer? What about a first time MUDer that barely plays games? It takes time to build those leet skillz, start people off slow let them grow at their own pace and not at yours.

Spear user stats
I've got a human warrior with weird stats that tends to lean towards heavy dex. I was wondering about making him a spear user (I know they aren't considered very good, don't care). Can someone enlighten me as to some good stats for a spear wielding human warrior?

Re: Mume & Social Friendship
A friends list is sorely needed. As is most people use MSN as a friends list which promotes possible cheating. An in game friends list would rock. It doesn't have to be account based, just char based.

Re: How do we groom new leaders of MUME?
Thank you Timodeus for the detailed and insightful reply. I have nothing but respect for both the past and present leaders of MUME be it from the zone creators to the implementers. In time hopefully the "changes" that were so spoken of can come to pass and we can see new content and maybe a new vers...

How do we groom new leaders of MUME?
It is clear based on this post: http://mume.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=943, that MUME needs new leaders. The current amount of management that has code level access and desire to do so seems limited at best, based on the past few years of experience. This is something that the player base has kno...

Re: Recent changes, any future ahead?
It is rather disheartening, I agree. Likely development got slowed up for reason x, y, z as often occurs when you rely on many different people to create something. I hope they come out atleast with status soon, so we know they are alive and working (even if at reduced pace).

Does anyone know a good way to capture logs via JMC? I don't like manually having to create a log when I start up the client.

Re: Scout changes
I don't even play scouts and dislike these changes. I don't see scouts anymore in PK, and while that is nice for me, it does make the game more bland overall. I guess someone in management ate one too many backstabs and implemented this.

Re: Quitting Mume
I initially played Mume from around 1993 until 1996 during the Mume III days. I was one of the fortunate ones who found Mume after they had already graduated college (91), but I could sense how the desire to play Mume interfered with career aspirations and real life. Back in those days you would co...

Re: The MUD Client "How do I do that?" thread
That worked with a minor change, #bind is actually #hotkey One annoying thing about the target is that if i do say a t orc, and its set to target orc, then I do just a t (nothing after it) it doesnt clear the target. If I hit f1 it still is hitting orc. Any idea how to make it so that when I type t ...

Re: The MUD Client "How do I do that?" thread
Thanks for the replies so far. I actually decided recently to switch to JMC and am still getting used to it. I like the simple no frills interface though, reminds me of a lean Google type style. Anyway, I looked through the JMC manual but must have missed it -- how do I create a targeting variable/a...

The MUD Client "How do I do that?" thread
Let this thread serve as a place to ask questions about triggers and scripting etc via MUD clients. My questions:
In ZMUD, how do I make a reply trigger/alias/macro whatever?
Furthermore, in ZMUD, how do I make a trigger to group someone when they raise their hand?

Re: Question about mobdeath penalty (not complaint)
I feel mobdeath should be toned down, but only very slightly. It is important that it is harsh, and it does keep you on your toes when xping. Otherwise XP would become boring, and dangerous areas like Moria would be far far less exciting. I'd suggest perhaps reducing the XP loss by 15-20%, and possi...
