Bear Questions

Hey there,
I haven't played in a very long time, about 7 years or so, and over the past month I've started up a various number of characters of all sorts ranging from spear battle clerics to berserking smite dwarves, defensive human warriors, trying out a mage again etc. etc.
Anyway, over the course of my MUME gameplay many years ago, I never did try out a bear character and I just created a lowbie bear in Anduin and to be honest I'm stumped.
I don't consider myself a person of poor knowledge in the game, I'm sure MUME has changed a lot since I last played seriously, but I used to be very active when I played before and while I don't have any 40+ characters I've played my fair share of legends and hero's.
That being said I'm perplexed at the gaming style of a bear character. I'm looking at this as the next step into exploring some whitie PvP before I decide to concentrate on an orc or so. I was wondering if there was any kind of guide that I could read up on or if anyone had any hints and tips that they could give me while I embark on this strange voyage of understanding what the hell I have to do to be an effective bear.
For instance, do I practice any weapon skills or rely most of all on smashing stuff in metamorph? Parry worthwhile at all if I'm not going to have a shield on? Is there a certain skill similar to a troll's unarmed? Is bear form effective at all further west around Bree/Fnst? Is it worthwhile trying to arrange stats to include a little cure serious later on down the line given that I cannot cast spells in bear form?
Random questions basically, but if anyone has some good advice on bears, it would be much appreciated.
Seems like a very interesting character to play.
Thanks in advance.

I also apologize ahead of time if there's a thread giving bear tips in here somewhere, I skimmed the 7 pages and didn't see anything at first glance.
